
Royal Chester Rowing Club Charitable Trust Fund
Established in 1984 to assist young people in full time education realise their potential in rowing as a sport, whether at recreational or international level. The Trust is able to assist by providing appropriate equipment or a financial contribution towards the rowers' travel, coaching or training expenses.
They have also helped a significant number of young people from other rowing clubs. In addition, the Trust provides an annual grant to Chester City Council to support their Young Persons in Sport Awards initiative, and is always available to assist anyone who by reasons of youth, social or economic circumstances find themselves disadvantaged from their peers.
Individual squad members will also make a donation to their own nominated good cause, these are:-
• Save the Family - a Christian charity that provides emergency accommodation to homeless families in Cheshire. The charity also provides training and support in life skills; encouraging achievement and confidence such that residents are more able to be successful in the future.
• Claire House Children’s Hospice - Palliative and respite care, serving terminally ill children in the North West of England and Wales
• St Joseph's Hospice, - Palliative care, serving the North West of England. “It is essential that our frailest and most vulnerable of society are cared for properly”
• Water Aid, dedicated to the provision of safe domestic water and sanitation to the world’s poorest countries.
• St Gregory's Foundation - to buy a rowing boat for use by the community who provide summer camps for street children and orphans in their dacha by a lake in Northern Russia.
• Alzheimer's Society - working to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia.
• Merlin - Disaster Emergency Fund . Organising and financing medical teams and other professionals to respond to disaster zones worldwide.
• Vision Room West Cheshire College, for visually impaired IT students. To provide Laptops with Screen Reader software for loan to students.
• St Andrew's University Boat Club - founded 45 years ago with limited funds the club continues to operate through charitable support.
• Queens Park High School Association - funding young people in an extensive range of activities regardless of family circumstances.
